CHRISTIAN SINGLES : GUIDE TO
ENDING LONELINESS AND DEPRESSION Cont.
Chapter 14. Hope Springs Eternal
Here are a few verses on hope:
Ps. 16:9 My flesh shall rest in hope.
Ps. 39:7 My hope is in thee.
Prov. 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick (How true!) but when
the desire cometh it is a tree of life.(Have faith that your desires are
on the wy; see them as already here, by faith, even though your desires
are not yet visible by your natural eye. Live by faith, not by sight and
new hope will spring upon you and give you the perseverance and strength
until your own “tree of life” appears.
Romans 8:24 We are saved by hope, but hope that is seen (visible) is
not hope, for what a man can see, why would he yet hope for ? This verse
unlocks the mystery of the power hope holds in our lives.
1 Thes. 2:16, 17. God has given us everlasting consolation and good
hope, through grace.
Let’s examine the dimensions and far-reaching effects of loneliness
and depression so that that you may size up one of the techniques the
enemy uses. Loneliness may be a natural reaction to isolation and lack
of love, but it is also a tool with which the dark angels can bring you
down, effectively binding your soul in unseen chains, and successfully
hindering you from living the abundant life God promises to those who
put their faith in Jesus. While you read about those who are caught in
this trap, think about what a potent weapon the enemy has over the
majority of people on Earth. It’s scope is unimaginable, and, as I
mentioned before, loneliness is the unseen cause of illness, suicide,
violence in the home and many other tragedies. But hold on to this hope:
God is the healer of broken hearts. There is no one so far gone that He
cannot reach down, dry their tears, and put them on the road to joy and
peace.
In studying the scourage of loneliness, this poignant observation by
Loretta Girzartis unveils the pain: “The world is full of lonely
people, all isolated in a private, secret dungeon.” Doubt that we will
ever enjoy a happier tomorrow creeps in and tries to replace our faith
in God. Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese poet said, “Doubt is a pain too
lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.” Below is a promise you
can pray back to God, and write on a card to be placed where you can see
it every day. It is a Living Word, with power to transform your life and
fill you with glorious hope:
Ps. 31:24. Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, all
you who hope in the Lord.”
Feed your faith and your doubt will starve to death!
