Chapter 28. Famous People Who Suffered
Loneliness And Depression
Examples of Depression And Loneliness in The New Testament
However, isn’t it touching that our Lord wept over us? And that he was
willing to come to earth to suffer such an agonizing death, so humiliating
and cruel, for us? And since he said, he who sees me has seen the Father, we
also can feel the Father’s love for us to have made such a provision to
pay for our sins. Our Savior humbled himself and took on human form to feel
what we feel, and to suffer as we do. He isn’t some remote God, so far
removed from our human experience that he does not understand what we go
through.
Some have suggested that Judas Iscariot also had depression. I promised
to compare the mental state of Judas with those of the saints and sinners of
the old testament. Can you think of one major way in which Judas was
different from the sinners who suffered depression before him in the Old
Testament, Christian singles? May I suggest that only Judas Iscariot was
possessed by the devil himself? We know of another satanically possessed
person who has not come on the scene, yet, and that will be the Anti-Christ!

Passover. And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him
(Jesus) for they feared the people. THEN ENTERED SATAN INTO JUDAS, SURNAMED
ISCARIOT, being of the number of the twelve, and he went his way, and
communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him. And
they were glad, and covenanted to give him money, and he promised and sought
an opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
You might see regret, but not depression, in Judas, when he saw that
Jesus had actually been condemned, and Judas repented himself:
