Chapter 28. Famous People Who Suffered
Loneliness And Depression
The Disciples Were Depressed, Fearful And Without Hope
When Christ Died.
But truthfully, Christian singles, the disciples should have known
through the prophets of old that God’s Messiah would:
1. Be born to a Virgin, for Isaiah 7:14 foretold it: “Therefore
the Lord Himself will give you a sign; behold, the virgin shall conceive and
bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (fulfilled in Galatians
4:4)
2. Be the Son of God: (Psalm 2:7) “I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to me, You are my Son, today I have begotten you.”
(fulfilled in Matthew 3:17)
3.Be a descendant of King David: (Jeremiah 23:5) “Behold, the
days are coming, says the Lord, that I will raise to David a Branch of
righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and
righteousness in the land.” (fulfilled in Luke 3: 23, 31)
4. Be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) “But you, Bethlehem
Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of
you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth
are from of old, From everlasting.” This verse also foretold his
preexistence, from eternity past. (fulfilled in Matthew 2:1)
5. He shall be called Lord (psalm 110:1) “The Lord said unto my
Lord, Sit at my right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
(fulfilled in Matt. 22:43-45)
6. He will have the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11:2)
“The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and
understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and
of the fear of the Lord.” (fulfilled in Matt.3:16, 17) Isn’t that a
great description of Jesus, Christian singles?
7. He will enter Jerusalem on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9) “Rejoice
greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your
King is coming to you: He is just and having salvation, humble, lowly and
riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”(fulfilled in Luke
19:35)
