Chapter 27. Solution #2 Is Inner Healing Still Controversial? Can We
Judge It By It’s Fruits?
Please pray as described above and you may find you do not need any
further healing. In that case, you could skip the rest of this chapter. But
for those of you Christian singles who still feel pain or outrage against
your perpetrator, consider trying to heal your memories by applying the
simple techniques that will be described, but only if you discern no harm to
your soul and spirit. Err on the side of caution.
It is charged that the woman who introduced us to Healing of Memories,
Agnes Sanford, was influenced by her pastor, who was steeped Jungian
philosophy. She is castigated, still, by those who believe she brought New
Age thought into the church. If their accusations are true, she made some
statements that are patently unbiblical, such as this; “Our experiences
outweigh theology” (the truths of the Bible!) Well, I should define
theology more carefully! As you know, Christians argue over various fine
points of their theology, such as whether a woman can cut her hair, or
whether the Sabbath is Sunday or Saturday. Perhaps those differences of interpretation
of the Bible was what she was referring to, and not the inerrancy of the
Bible itself. Nevertheless, we cannot rely on our experiences if they
conflict with the Scriptures! This cannot be taken lightly, because the Holy
Scriptures are true and reliable for any age and any culture. The Bible
should be the touchstone, the standard, by which any practice is judged, not
the other way around.
Just a note for Christian singles
who may be lonely or depressed. There is an old adage: "To have
friends, you must first be a friend." This doesn't mean that you are
unfriendly! It means that if you wish to end your loneliness and make
friends you must take the initiative. Reach out your hand of friendship to
others. By doing so the dark clouds of loneliness and depression will burn
