Chapter 25 Warning- A Christian Single’s Dating Disaster:
Narcissism And Other Personality Disorders
Watch For These Personality Disorders
Their depression is far more likely to drive BPDs to suicide
attempts, and many are successful attempts. The narcissist isn’t
prone to such deep depression, and quickly gets back into their
façade after it lifts.
Neither disorders tolerate criticism, even constructive criticism,
from others. The narcissist is too vain, and the BPD is too dependent
on those near to her to bear any negative comment well.
Both need constant attention and positive feedback, but the BPD is
far more needy. She would garner far more sympathy than the
narcissist, except that she too, flies into rages at the drop of a
hat. And her fits can follow shortly after she has just declared her
eternal love for her confused spouse or child. She changes fast,
seeming not to be able to control these outbursts. She may be capable
of love, unlike malignant narcissists, but she needs constant
reassurance. She is also more cognizant of other’s feelings, since
she depends upon them so much. She deeply fears abandonment.
