CHRISTIAN SINGLE’S GUIDE TO PERSONALITY DISORDERS
WHICH CAUSE DEPRESSION FOR BOTH THE PERPETRATOR AND THEIR VICTIMS
Chapter 25 Warning- A Christian Single’s Dating Disaster:
Narcissism And Other Personality Disorders
Now that you have a pretty good handle on the secret life of the
abusive narcissist, you may have used the list in Part One to discern
possible narcissists in your midst. There’s nothing wrong with that
if you keep in mind that we are not qualified to declare someone a
certified malignant narcissist, just as I used disclaimers to indicate
that the two women I know are only potential narcissists, driven by
self-absorption and cruelty. Their children and ex-spouses, however,
were amazed when they read the list of symptoms, and were relieved, in
a way, to finally have a name for the denigration and cruelty heaped
upon them, and they realized that they were not to blame. They also
were able to see themselves in a new light, even as conquerors, having
escaped this abuse with their minds still intact. There is a new field
with very helpful information for the victims of a narcissist’s
crazy view of the world, and of those unfortunate souls who lived with
them. If you are one of those walking wounded, still shell-shocked
from your deadly encounter with a narcissist, try to find competent
help to regain your self-worth and a healthy regard for yourself. Go
over the chapters on shame, depression, guilt, and loneliness. You
will find great solace there, as you rebuild your life and regain your
self-respect. Remember, none of those stinging put downs or false
accusations came from God!!! As you read God, The Ultimate Healer again,
let every word sink deeply into your heart, because only God can heal
you, and Jesus gave His life for you, knowing you before you were ever
born! Our dear Lord sees all the wondrous exploits and caring acts you
are capable of, with the sweet Holy Spirit living within you,
comforting and guiding you into the greatness that is your destiny! I
am thankful that there is acknowledgement of the need for group
counseling for the injured souls who have lived with malignant
narcissists and other mentally ill or addicted personalities, but dear
Christian singles with God’s help too, you have an excellent
prognosis of full recovery. Knowing that you are a survivor shows that
you have great inner strength to have kept yourself from a nervous
breakdown or worse, and you can build upon that strength to reverse
every indignity, physical attack and attempt at brain-washing that the
sick person in your past used, attempting to gain complete control
over you. Let me pray a special prayer for those of you who have
suffered from such a person as this, whether they had a personality
disorder, mental illness, or addiction: Heavenly Father, only You know
what these dear ones have suffered at the hands of another. I hold up
these wounded souls to you, asking that you bind up those wounds, and
fill them with your reassuring peace. Lead them beside still waters,
and restore their souls, let them feel your love and remind them of
the plans You have for them, to bless them. As they heal, give them
the grace to forgive and forget, leaving this pain in the past, and
bless them with new hope for a brighter future. I ask this in the name
of our savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
