Chapter 24. Narcissism: “I Love Me, I Love Me Not”
The First Signs Of A Malignant Narcissist
12. At times, he will say or do strangely ridiculous things, and he
will not see the incongruity or senselessness. One of the two
narcissists I know once told her 5 year old son, “Don’t squint. It
will give you wrinkles.” I felt like saying, “HELLO!!! He could
squint all day and not get wrinkles and besides, he’s a boy and
it’s not masculine to be obsessed with wrinkles.” In addition, she
did not allow her boys to play baseball outside because she said the
sun’s rays would age their skin! She was beautiful in her youth,
obsessed with her looks, and had 2 or 3 lovers at a time, oddly
jealous about each one, putting each boyfriend through the third
degree if she thought they were cheating on her!
13. Narcissists are often lonely and many have depression. Their
depression may bring dark moods, but be assured, narcissists CAUSE
more depression than they themselves suffer. Broken hearts and lives
litter the path they wander through life, and when they are done with
their victims, be it spouses or children, they won’t shed a tear, or
have a kind word for those they have cast aside.
14. Try to set up a double date with him and a blind date with his
friend and your single girlfriend and you may find out HE HAS NO
FRIENDS!! Co-workers, neighbors, classmates from college avoid him
like the plague. If you should meet someone from his past or present,
they will likely tell you he is self-absorbed, egotistical, cold
hearted, or that he goes ballistic for the most insane reasons.
Perhaps some of the “bad boy” movie stars or sports heroes who fly
into a rage, commit assault and battery, are hit with a lawsuit, and
eventually repeat the same process, need more than a course in anger
management!
15. Narcissists try to find professions where they can be both
admired and wealthy, thus show business or sports is a natural fit.
But most lack the talent, and will settle for the highest paying job. This
is important, because they need money to ensnare their victims, and
control them. They also are more “creative” in their finances
than the average person, using bankruptcy to wipe out credit card debt
(while keeping their homes, car and items the credit card bought.)
Lawsuits are another source of income, and their consummate ability to
lie is an asset here. They will borrow from aging parents, never
planning to repay them. Another creative source of income is from
their unwary mates or lovers, or both! If a book title could be their
mantra, it would be Looking Out For Number One! Later I will reveal
some of the scams my two lab specimens, female narcissists, have
successfully carried out, thanks to their high powered lawyers and
accommodating doctors!
