Chapter 21. The Green-Eyed Monster Called Envy
So you can see that when the Bible describes severe damage to the
bones resulting from negative emotions (e.g. bones drying up or rotting)
it is revealing spiritual root causes for some of our most debilitating
diseases: all of the immune system diseases including rheumatoid
arthritis, allergies etc. A broken spirit (caused by our negative
thinking, or sin, such as envy, fear, hatred, shame, etc.) results in
drying up of the blood producing marrow. Rottenness may refer to cancer,
tumors, infection and more.
Envy, Bitterness, And Resentment Lead to Depression!.
As I mentioned before, envy and jealousy create bitterness and
resentment, and we lose our self esteem, our self-worth, causing a
broken spirit. This further degenerates into self-hatred and
self-rejection. With our immune system compromised, our body and mind
are greatly weakened and if we don’t take steps to destroy the root
causes, envy, bitterness and a broken spirit, we will sink deeper into
depression and other mental disorders. Envy and jealousy are toxic
poisons and they lead to self pity, depression and eventually to
loneliness as we become more and more difficult for others to tolerate.
Did you know that envy and jealousy are different? Envy raises its
ugly head when we covet another person’s belongings or someone they
love, such as a spouse or children. Jealousy is what we feel when someone
else tries to take away from us someone or something we love, such
as trying to seduce our spouse.(A note to Christian singles,
naturally, in this case, you will try to save your marriage by
talking with your spouse, and even the degenerate who wants to break up
your marriage!) This can be done in love and with much prayer, so that
your marriage and your children’s home will be saved. (Forgive Grandma
for calling the home wrecker a degenerate, but that was the kindest word
I could think of. These people have no conscience, especially when
children’s lives and happiness are at stake.)
