CHRISTIAN SINGLES, WASTE NOT,
WANT NOT!
There is another old saying, “You get what
you pay for.” But how do we know when a product or service is that
much better than cheaper brands? Did you ever see the magazine,
Consumer Reports? I think there are publications with alternate names
such as Consumers Digest, and Consumer’s Guide too that compare and
rate various products, like cars and appliances. They claim to be
non-profit and independent.
I was very surprised to see a comparison of
expensive air cleaning filters, some charging hundreds of dollars.
Well, all my trust in advertising went out the window when I learned
that the brands that claimed to be far superior really did not test
out very well in the consumer testing. It actually was an example of NOT
GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I’ve heard that some Hepa filters do a
good job, and are much cheaper, but I wonder if we really need an air
purifier, when we could use mother nature to air out our abodes? Cross
ventilation might be more cleansing, and it is free, compliments of
the wind.
When I first heard the term, “cross
ventilation” we were looking for a motel after wearing ourselves out
at Disneyland. When we asked the motel clerk if they had air
conditioning, he said, “We have cross ventilation.” Well, that
sounded good, and we were too exhausted to question him. You can
imagine how dismayed we were to see that he meant opening a window at
both sides of the room. We were thinking it involved a fan! Ha ha. And
to add insult to injury, we couldn’t even open the windows because
there was no screen over them, nor anyway to keep prowlers out! But we
just wrapped ourselves in wet sheets and slept the best we could in
our “cross ventilated room.”
