Warning- A Christian Single’s Dating
Disaster: Narcissism And Other Personality Disorders
Now that you have a pretty good handle on the secret
life of the abusive narcissist, you may have used the list
in Part One to discern possible narcissists in your midst.
There’s nothing wrong with that if you keep in mind that
we are not qualified to declare someone a certified
malignant narcissist, just as I used disclaimers to
indicate that the two women I know are only potential
narcissists, driven by self-absorption and cruelty. Their
children and ex-spouses, however, were amazed when they
read the list of symptoms, and were relieved, in a way, to
finally have a name for the denigration and cruelty heaped
upon them, and they realized that they were not to blame.
They also were able to see themselves in a new light,
even as conquerors, having escaped this abuse with their
minds still intact. There is a new field with very helpful
information for the victims of a narcissist’s crazy view
of the world, and of those unfortunate souls who lived
with them. If you are one of those walking wounded, still
shell-shocked from your deadly encounter with a
narcissist, try to find competent help to regain your
self-worth and a healthy regard for yourself. Go over the
chapters on shame, depression, guilt, and loneliness. You
will find great solace there, as you rebuild your life and
regain your self-respect.
