CHRISTIAN SINGLES
GUIDE TO ONLINE DATING ADVICE
For now, praying for troubled children, taking time to
smile and ask how they are doing, acknowledging them as
valued human beings, will go far in giving them hope that
they are both worthy of love and friendship, and that God
really does love them. Here’s a clue, if you suspect
they may be on their way to emotional problems like
depression and withdrawing into themselves: Always be sure
your compliments to them are less about their appearance
and other outward characteristics, and instead compliment
them if they show kindness to an animal, or a person or
exhibit any of the uplifting, life-affirming
characteristics found in the Scriptures. Say that they
have many characteristics that God loves and tell them
that He loves them unconditionally. One strategy used to
coax the non-violent narcissist out of the spell they are
ensnaring themselves in is to see the person behind the
mask
Let them know that they don’t have to be somebody
else to please others. If everyone in your circle of
friends, or your family, refuses to compliment them on the
attributes they take pride in, their personality disorder
may run out of fuel, and they might be persuaded
to drop the disguise, work on overcoming shame,
depression, self-hatred and the other emotional pain that
caused them to use self-absorption as a defense mechanism
in the first place.
I should add that none of us are capable of diagnosing
a personality disorder, but the positive, tough love,
affirming suggestions can do no harm, whatever the
problem. Who knows but that the Lord put this suffering
child or adult in your path for such a time as this, a
time when personality disorders are no longer dealt with
by floggings, or permanent confinement in an insane asylum
or prison. I have not covered the power of prayer for
narcissists, deliverance or other means of setting the
captive free of the prison they have constructed in their
own minds because these wondrous miracles will be covered
in a later chapter, but for now pray that they will be
receptive to God‘s healing touch. Since the psychiatric
community has no cure for these disorders, we will
ultimately have to rely on The Great Physician, who is
only a prayer away!.
