CHRISTIAN SINGLES DATING
GUIDE: DRESS FOR LESS
To save on clothing, look for clothing exchanges in your
church or city. These clothing exchanges are more likely to
limit themselves to children’s clothing. However, getting
good quality clothing free in return for your good clothing
is a great money saver.
When churches have a yard sale, their prices are low and
the quality of clothing is very good. You might want to shop
the first day for “must have” great clothes for everyone
in the family, and then find out when the sale ends,
and stop by on the last day because you can get bags full of
clothing for a few dollars a bag. They want to get rid of
whatever they did not sell, and you could get items either
free or very cheap. If you just grab all the good quality
clothing, regardless of size, you could barter with it, give
it to friends or family who need it, or give them to your
church’s collection of clothing for the needy.
Have you ever shopped at a second hand store? The first
one I visited when my children were young was called “Repeat
Boutique!” As the young wife of an air force medic, we
never had enough money to last until the next payday. We
could save a little money at the BX, but not enough to buy
sufficient clothing for growing children. The greatest help
the air force provided, and for which we were very grateful,
was free medical care for all of us. The first time I went
to the Repeat Boutique I had to work up my courage because I
worried that someone would see me there!
